Isle Of Man Kitesurfing School

_r2_c3 north rebel kites

IOM Kitesurfing School is run by Steve Jones a Level 2 Senior Kitesurfing Instructor qualified by the IKO. Steve has been teaching for over 2 yrs in North Wales. We run our kitesurfing lessons strictly by the IKO syllabus and our aim is to teach people how to kitesurf safely so that you can enjoy this exciting sport 100%. We use North Rebel and North Buzz Kites on the Lessons. These kites are user friendly and have 100% de-power and re-launch very easily. It's important you fully understand how to use the kites before you enter the water. Your first day on your kitesurfing lessons will involve the following.

Day 1:

  • Beach safety and assesment.
  • Introduction to kites with a look at different types and sizes.
  • Rigging up (inflation, connecting lines, harness and how it works).
  • Set up and flying a 2m foil trainer kite.
  • Launching (off the beach).
  • Landing (on the beach).
  • Basic Flying movement, explanation of the wind window.
  • Getting kitted out (choosing the wetsuit, buoyancy aid, crash helmet).
  • Kite recovery and emergency packdown on the beach.
  • Once this has been achieved you will have completed IKO Level 1 and a bit more although this must all be practiced again and again. The better you fly the kite, the better you will be on the water!
